Visual Studio 2012 on Windows Server 2008
If you use Visual Studio 2012 on Windows Server 2008, and connect via Remote Desktop, you may see black squares in lieu of icons in the Visual Assist Navigation Bar and Find References Results window, among other places. To avoid the problem, use Visual Assist 1929 or newer, and disable icon theming by setting this registry entry:
HKCU\Software\Whole Tomato\Visual Assist X\VANet11\EnableIconTheme = 00
Close all IDEs before editing this registry key, to avoid having your change overwritten when the IDE quits.
Return this to 01 to restore default behavior.
