Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2005
If you have PVCS Version Manager 7.5 installed with Visual Studio SCC integration, you may experience crashes when you launch a Visual Studio solution from Windows Explorer. The crashes do not occur if you launch Visual Studio and then manually load a solution.
PVCS 7.5 does not fully support Visual Studio 2008 and 2005, but it does register itself as an SCM provider that the IDEs attempt to load. PVCS can be installed standalone. However, it also appears to be installed as part of another application.
If you find that PVCS is listed in the Visual Studio Source Control plug-in list at IDE | Tools | Options | Source Control and are experiencing the crash, remove the PVCS entries at the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider
Alternatively, remove relevant entries from the following keys to prevent PVCS from being available in any system that reads it, i.e., all versions of Visual Studio:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders
